Judge leaves temporary block on Biden legalization program for immigrant spouses
On Wednesday, a U.S. judge maintained a temporary injunction against the Biden administration’s initiative to legalize immigration for spouses of citizens. U.S. District Judge J. Campbell Barker of Texas decided to keep the program on hold until September 23 in order to allow for legal briefing and potentially a hearing. Texas and a group of Republican attorneys general filed a lawsuit to halt the Biden program on the grounds that it beyond the executive branch’s jurisdiction to provide legal status to individuals who had entered the country illegally and disregarded immigration regulations.
