Mayra's courageous story

Her previous lawyer assured that they would obtain the U visa certification. Unfortunately, things took a disappointing turn. They claimed that the District Attorney refused to sign it due to her past criminal history. To make matters worse, their representation in court left much to be desired, and her appeal paperwork, shockingly admitted that the judge’s denial of her case was justified. It was a deeply disheartening experience.

Fast forward three years, when Mayra found herself in a time crunch, facing the unexpected grasp of ICE, she turned to us for assistance, and we sprang into action. We immediately filed a motion to reopen her case, based on the grounds of ineffective assistance of counsel.

Simultaneously, we began the arduous process of obtaining the elusive U visa certification. We approached the criminal judge and the District Attorney, hoping for a change of heart, but they both declined to sign it, apparently influenced by past misconceptions.

Not discouraged, we shifted gears and approached the sheriff’s department, explaining her journey of personal growth and transformation. And to our delight, immediately agreed to sign the U visa certification! This incredible achievement has significantly strengthened her chances of staying in America alongside her four beloved children.

Consider Rajesh as a skilled professional shaping his career in the United States. In 2020, he achieved a significant milestone with the approval of his “I-140,” laying the foundation for a remarkable journey. But… he suddenly received an “RFE” Request for Evidence.
