Seg\u00fan el acuerdo propuesto, la pol\u00edtica de \"tolerancia cero\" que se utiliz\u00f3 bajo la administraci\u00f3n Trump para separar a m\u00e1s de 5.000 ni\u00f1os de padres que fueron detenidos por entrar ilegalmente en el pa\u00eds quedar\u00eda prohibida hasta diciembre de 2031. Los ni\u00f1os podr\u00e1n seguir siendo separados, pero bajo circunstancias limitadas, como ha sido el caso durante a\u00f1os. Entre ellas, si se cree que el ni\u00f1o sufre malos tratos, si el progenitor es condenado por delitos graves o si existen dudas de que el adulto sea el progenitor. Las familias que fueron separadas pueden optar a otros beneficios: estatus legal durante un m\u00e1ximo de tres a\u00f1os en libertad condicional humanitaria; reunificaci\u00f3n en Estados Unidos a expensas del gobierno; un a\u00f1o de alojamiento; tres a\u00f1os de asesoramiento; asistencia jur\u00eddica en el tribunal de inmigraci\u00f3n.
