En una carta obtenida por el Des Moines Register, el fiscal general adjunto principal, Brian Boynton, escribi\u00f3 que el departamento \"tiene la intenci\u00f3n de presentar una demanda para hacer cumplir la supremac\u00eda de la ley federal y para prohibir\" la nueva ley de inmigraci\u00f3n aprobada como Archivo del Senado 2340. La ley, firmada en abril tras ser aprobada por la Asamblea Legislativa dirigida por los republicanos, permite a los agentes de Iowa detener a inmigrantes indocumentados que hayan sido previamente deportados o tengan prohibida la entrada en el pa\u00eds.
