Ruben Torres-Maldonado&#8217;s family representative informed ABC News that the illegal father was freed from Brazil, Indiana&#8217;s Clay County Jail on Thursday night and was traveling to Chicago to see his daughter, Ofelia Torres. Torres-Maldonado was previously given a $2,000 bail by Chicago immigration judge Eva Saltzman.\u00a0<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>In addition to ruling in favor of his release during the hearing, the court stated that he is now qualified to request a cancellation of removal due to the difficulties his family would face if he were compelled to leave the nation. Saltzman stated she had no reason to think Torres-Maldonado constituted a risk to the public, despite the Department of Homeland Security&#8217;s (DHS) earlier assertion that he was a &#8220;criminal illegal alien&#8221; with a history of driving violations.
