Border Patrol Active in Kern County

The town was rocked by reports of federal immigration agents in Kern County on Tuesday, as YouTube video sparked concerns about deportations and workplace raids. U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers will be in the area this week, the Bakersfield Police Department informed The Californian on Tuesday. The department was not participating in the operations, according to the agency. Social media videos purportedly showed U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers in an agency truck close to Merle Haggard Drive in Oildale and in the parking lot of the Home Depot store on Ming Avenue. On its social media channels, the Dolores Huerta Foundation shared a big, red message asking people to spread the word about the actions. It also stated that resources for anyone affected can be obtained at rapidresponsekern.com.
