DHS Extends TPS for Venezuela

DHS Extends TPS for Venezuela

The Department of Homeland Security declared an 18-month extension of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Venezuela. People might qualify if they have lived continuously in the United States on or before July 31, 2023. Venezuelan citizens entering the United States after July 31, 2023, do not qualify for TPS. Individuals who do not go through a legal process or route will face enforcement repercussions. The TPS extension for Venezuelans lasts from April 3, 2025, to October 2, 2026, permitting around 600,000 qualified current beneficiaries to keep TPS until October 2, 2026, provided they re-register and still fulfill TPS eligibility criteria. Venezuelan citizens who enrolled for TPS under the 2021 Venezuela TPS designation can also re-apply for TPS under this extension, as they satisfy the same eligibility criteria.
