As the Israel-Hezbollah conflict rages, humanitarian aid will be provided to Lebanese citizens residing in the United States.

Citing the ongoing armed conflict and conditions in Lebanon, the Department of Homeland Security announced Thursday that Lebanese nationals living in the United States will receive a type of humanitarian relief. In light of the ongoing military conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, the Biden administration decided to grant Lebanon Temporary Protected Status (TPS) after Lebanese Americans pushed the administration and Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign to do so. The 18-month designation for Lebanon was made public on Thursday by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, “due to ongoing armed conflict and extraordinary and temporary conditions in Lebanon that prevent nationals of Lebanon from returning in safety.” Certain Lebanese nationals who are already in the US are covered by the protections.
