Florida Bill Limits College Access

Florida Bill Limits College Access

A plan introduced by a Florida state representative would prohibit certain public colleges and universities from accepting foreign nationals who are in the nation illegally. Republican state senator Randy Fine, who is vying for a congressional seat to succeed Trump’s choice for national security advisor Rep. Mike Waltz, submitted the plan on Tuesday. Based on admissions data, the University of Florida, Florida State University, the University of Central Florida, and Florida International University are among the universities that might be impacted. At public colleges and universities in Florida, students who do not currently have such authorization are eligible for in-state tuition. Additionally, Fine has submitted a bill to remove that clause.
