Is it possible to retain my priority date if my parents become US Citizens?​

A priority date is a number that is assigned to an individual when they file their immigration application. It is typically the earliest date that the individual can arrive in the United States and apply for a visa. If your parents become naturalized United States citizens, your priority date will change. Instead of being assigned a number, your priority date will now be based on when you were born.

If you were born before January 1, 1975, your priority date is based on the day you were born.

– File an I-130 petition on your own 

– File an I-140 petition on behalf of your spouse
