Visa Interviews Suddenly Canceled
Naturalization interviews have been canceled as a result of the White House’s immigration crackdown, leaving many applicants unsure of their future citizenship status. Many people are impacted by this situation, when they show up for their interviews only to be sent away without receiving a response. These cancellations align with changing immigration laws, such as the Trump administration’s recent suspension of applications from 19 “high risk” nations.
Vera pointed out that neither his client nor anyone else in the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) office were from these nations. Experts caution that the absence of notification and explanation raises major due process problems, and the American Immigration Lawyers Association has said that this is not an unusual instance.
As of this now, there is no word on if or when the postponed interviews will be rescheduled. Although many may not receive advance warning, immigration experts encourage applicants to continue monitoring their mail and accounts.
