Reuniting Sudanese Family Amid Crisis
How Our GreenCardGuys Immigration Attorneys Helped Bring Parents to Safety in the U.S.
One of the great privileges we have as immigration attorneys and advocates is to reunite families who have been separated by distance and, often, years. This is even more special to us when we have family members who are in crisis and reunification here in the safety of the United States becomes more urgent.
A long-time naturalized citizen of the U.S., N. came to GreenCardGuys seeking guidance on bringing their elderly parents to the U.S. The family is originally from Sudan, which has suffered many humanitarian crises over the years, but with the current civil war and violence directed at innocent civilians, like N.’s parents, it has become a nightmare. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced and have had to flee to survive. We worked with N. to file the paperwork with all the supporting evidence that was required, but USCIS, under the new administration’s policies of resistance, sent a request for more and even attempted to reject the evidence that was properly submitted.
Our team researched the issues and found confirmation from the U.S. Department of State, International NGO’s and reports from humanitarian agencies to support our response. N. was able to identify witnesses to help us complete affidavit’s supporting the family. After receiving our response and evidence, the applications were quickly approved, allowing the case to move forward to consular processing. Having a team of immigration attorneys and advocates who are experienced, thorough and willing to think outside the box is more necessary than ever. GCG provides the highest-quality representation to its clients, whether it is a family in need or a corporation bringing in highly- skilled employees.
