USCIS Monitors Social Media Accounts

USCIS Monitors Social Media Accounts

On Wednesday, immigration officials presented a plan to access and examine social media profiles of anyone requesting asylum, citizenship, or residency in the United States.   The proposal for a social media surveillance strategy was published in the Federal Register on Wednesday by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which manages applications for citizenship, asylum, and visa approvals. In order to conduct “identity verification, national security and public safety screening, and vetting, and related inspections,” the government said that this information would be helpful.  Public opinions on the plan are welcome for the following sixty days.
